General Guidelines for First Year Admissions
Candidates who qualify the JET shall be eligible to apply for admission to various courses. All candidates desirous of applying for admission shall be required to register on the counseling websites to participate in the online counseling.
1. The candidate must have passed the Matriculation examination or equivalent examination in Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) and English from any recognized Board. Apart from the above basic education qualifications, the general eligibility criteria shall be as contained in Punjab Government, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training Notification No. 13/2/2010-1TE-2/68 dated 06/01/2011, which can be seen in Part-IV of the JET-2011 Prospectus.
2. There shall be no cut-off marks in the JET. The candidates who appear in the JET–2011, (and who have not been otherwise disqualified) whose rank has been declared by the Board, shall be eligible to appear in the counseling in the order of JET merit/ranking. Applying for, but not appearing at the JET shall not be sufficient to attain this eligibility.
3. There is no lower or upper age limit for admission.
4. Admission of candidates, who fulfill all other conditions for admission, shall be effected on the basis of the relative merit in Joint Entrance Test, subject to reservation of seats as per policy of Government.
5. 85% seats will be reserved for the candidates from within the State and 15% will be open to candidates from other states. The eligibility criteria for 85% seats will be that the candidate must be a resident of Punjab State in terms of Punjab Govt. and should have passed qualifying examination from any recognized Board/University.
6. The reservation of seats shall be as per Punjab Government, Department of Technical Education and Industrial Training Memo. No. 13/2/05-ITE2/469 dated 20th February, 2006, which is available in Part-IV of the JET Prospectus.

Later Entry Scheme Guidelines for Second Year Admissions (LEET)
In addition to this in each of the regular course twenty percent (20%) seats are also available for ITI / 10+2 (Science) / 10+2 (Vocational) passed students in the second year of course through lateral entry. A number of seats in each course is limited to the twenty percent of the sanctioned intake plus number of vacant seats (if any) after first year.
1. 12th Science with Vocational/Technical or 10th + (2 years ITI) Students passing 12th Science with Vocational/Technical subjects or 10th + (2 years ITI) in that order shall be eligible for admission to second year Diploma Courses.
2. If seats remained vacant then the same will be filled on the basis of inter-se-merit as per the below mentioned eligibility criteria:
(i) ITI at least with one year (who passed 10th level School Leaving Examination before admission to ITI courses) from any Institution of Punjab/Other state.
(ii) 10+2 vocational examination in various branches from any institute of Punjab/Other State.
(iii) 10+2 with science from any institute of Punjab/Other state.
(iv) Two years certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal and have Punjab Domicile.
